What are white fillings?

White fillings are designed to fulfil the same function as traditional amalgam fillings, but are made with a composite resin material instead. This material is much more natural looking and tooth-coloured, making for a more uniform, photogenic finish for the patient.

White fillings are made of a composite resin material. Highly natural looking as well as being strong and durable, the material is bonded to the tooth helping to strengthen and protect it further while also returning it to full function.

Why choose white fillings?

Traditional amalgam fillings leave behind a silvery-looking appearance in the mouth, which some patients can be unhappy with. They can be noticeable and even unsightly and cause patients to feel self-conscious and unhappy about their smile. White fillings are also mercury-free which many patients are more comfortable with from a health point of view.

Are white fillings less functional than amalgam fillings?

White fillings are just as functional as amalgam fillings, and in fact, can even help protect the tooth from further damage thanks to being bonded to the tooth.
