What are dermal fillers?

This non-surgical facial aesthetic treatment is designed to help the skin appear firmer, adding volume and elasticity and injecting moisture back into the skin so that it appears more youthful. It does this through the application of hyaluronic acid via an injection.

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in the skin to keep it hydrated, helping it to appear firm, smooth, and plump. Unfortunately, our skin produces less of it as we age, which can lead to sagging, crepe-y looking skin that has lost its elasticity and firmness, as well as fine lines and wrinkles. It’s a common ingredient in some skincare products such as moisturisers and serums, but has a much greater effect when applied directly into the skin via dermal fillers.

Where can dermal fillers be applied?

Every treatment starts with a consultation where we’ll go over which areas of the face you wish to focus on. Some popular areas that patients often choose to focus on include around the eyes, nose, and mouth where lines and wrinkles can appear more prominently. Dermal fillers can also help add volume and plumpness to the jaw, cheeks, and chin.

How long does the treatment take?

Dermal fillers usually take just 30 minutes in the chair.

Is it painful?

We will apply a numbing agent to the area being treated, so you won’t feel a thing. After, you may see some bruising and experience some tenderness at the area which is perfectly normal after an injectable treatment.

When will I see the results?

Some patients notice results from this treatment immediately, but for most patients results are noticeable within a few days of the treatment.

How long do the results last?

Results from dermal fillers usually last for about six months.
