What is a single tooth dental implant?

Single tooth dental implants are designed to replace a single missing or soon to be extracted tooth. Made up of a titanium peg or screw that is implanted into the jawbone to act as the new root for the tooth, a prosthetic tooth is then held in place on top of it.

What is the treatment process like?

The treatment process can take several months and multiple visits to the practice when receiving a single tooth dental implant. We’ll first have to make sure the jaw is healthy enough to accept an implant, which is usually done via X-ray.

Once this has been done, you will be placed under local anaesthetic so you don’t feel a thing while the implant is being applied to the jaw. There’ll then be a wait of a few months while the jaw and implant fuse together. You’ll then come back into the practice to have your personal prosthetic tooth applied.
